2017 Season - Week 17 (Cont)
BUMS Playoffs
And so we begin our knock-out game and the road to BUMSBowl XXII starts this weekend. Again no rule changes so to refresh your memory here’s how our knock-out tournament works. It’s a head-to-head contest with the highest scorer in each game going through. You must select 1 QB, 1 kicker and any 4 outfield players to play within a budget of $7.5 million using the same player prices as the regular season. (See spreadsheet attached). You can change all players between each round and in each game no more than 2 players can appear in both teams. Please get your teams back to me as soon as possible and no later than by 10pm on Friday (UK time) so we can sort out any swaps needed. Whoever gets their team to me first gets first pick of players to swap, if necessary, so a speedy reply is key. If the scores are tied at the end of the games the tie-breaker is the Momentum Rule where the player that scored latest in any game is ruled to have “Momentum” and wins. The second tie-breaker is total yards rushing & receiving by your outfield players. As always top scoring owner plays lowest and so on, so here are the Wildcard match ups:- Craig v Mark, Cheryl v Alex, Johnnie v Dave G, Aaron v Daz, Marcus v AP, Wayne v George, Chief v Ron and Andy H v David S.
NFL Playoffs
The NFC playoff teams were confirmed when Atlanta defeated Carolina giving them the sixth and final spot in the NFC postseason but the AFC was far more exciting. If Baltimore won they were in and if Tennessee won they were in but Buffalo could only break their 18 year playoff drought if they won and Baltimore lost. Tennessee won 15-10 and Buffalo did their part leaping out to a 19-0 lead and defeating Miami 22-16. The Baltimore game ran later than the other games so the Bills waited to see their fate as Baltimore, who had been behind 24-10 with less than 7 minutes left in the third quarter fought back. With 8 minutes left Mike Wallace caught a Joe Flacco pass and the Ravens took a 27-24 lead. Cincinnati had one last chance to win with 2:43 to go starting on their own 10 yard line. With 53 seconds left the Bengals faced 4th and 12 at the Ravens 49 yard line when Andy Dalton broke Baltimore’s heart as he not only hit Tyler Boyd at the Ravens 22 yard line but Boyd spun away for a game winning TD sending Buffalo to the postseason. In the AFC the champions are New England (East 13-3) and Pittsburgh (North 13-3) with bye weeks & Jacksonville (South 10-6) and Kansas City (West 10-6) playing in the wildcard games at home against Buffalo (9-7) and Tennessee (9-7) respectively. In the NFC the champs are Philadelphia (East 13-3) and Minnesota (North 13-3) with bye weeks & LA Rams (West 11-5) and New Orleans (South 11-5) playing at home against Atlanta (10-6) and Carolina (11-5).
